CSV Fixer

Change a CSV file’s delimiter and character encoding.

How to use CSV Fixer

  1. Paste delimited text or choose the original CSV file, then set the input encoding and delimiter or leave detection on.
  2. Inspect the preview for correct rows, columns, and readable characters before changing anything.
  3. Choose the output separator and encoding, confirm that you reviewed the preview, then download the converted CSV.

What this tool does

Inspect the preview: encoding cannot always be inferred reliably.

Example

If a semicolon-separated export opens in one spreadsheet column, select semicolon as the input delimiter and comma as the output delimiter; check a row containing quoted punctuation before saving.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I check the preview when the delimiter is detected?

Automatic detection can be ambiguous, especially when values contain punctuation or rows have different shapes. Change the input delimiter manually if the columns do not line up.

Can this convert an Excel workbook?

No. It reads delimited CSV text or files. Export the worksheet as CSV first; formulas, formatting, and other worksheets are not part of a CSV file.
